Confirmation Instruction
Ongoing instruction in the Word is a lifelong habit of Baptized, believing Christians. Our congregation sets aside a special time for youth for an special study of the chief parts of Christian teaching, that they be best prepared for life as a Christian. Generally speaking, youth in the 7th and 8th grade are the ones in this class, and take what they have learned into their lives as growing young adults in high school.
After a time of study together, participants have a chance to join in the rite of confirmation, where they confess that this faith is their own, and the church gathered together confirms that they have received the instruction that was promised them at their baptism.
The content is basic Christian teaching, drawn from the holy scriptures, using Luther's small catechism as a guide. We also read together from the Lutheran Service Book and the Lutheran Confessions, to better understand the strength and beauty of our heritage as Lutherans.
